Saturday was a ton of work... heck.. getting ready was a ton of work... but here goes.... 19 holes, 2.5 yards of concrete, one big truck, lots of extra help, and 4 wheelbarrows.
10:30 the truck arrives.... we're done filling holes by 11:15!
Here's some of the photos:....
The "Hardest worker of the day!"
"Where are the keys, and how can I reach those peddles?"
The main focus Friday afternoon and part of Saturday morning was to finish attaching the ledger boards and laying out where the new deck footings will go. 19 in all!. I really don't want the deck to move or go anywhere. Luckily, I had help from Paul, and Home Depot - We rented the towable hydraulic auger. What a great tool. While it took us a little work to figure out the ins and outs of using it, once we had it all figured out, it made the work of digging all those holes, fairly easy. Not that it was light work (I'm very sore today), but we got it all done in about 6 hours (including re-work of some holes.)
Here's some photos from the day...
This is one BIG auger!.... At one end was a Honda gas engine and a hydraulic pump. The other end is where the bit is attatched... then the whole thing pivots down and drills away.... talk about power...
.
We were into digging deep.....
Did I remember to mention that it was dirty?
